Prof. Jeanne Schreurs, Hasselt University Belgium visits Hajvery University (HU), explores Cooperation / Dual Degrees between both Universities.

10 Oct, 2011. Hajvery University (HU) welcomed Prof. Jeanne Schreurs to Lahore last week. HU International Relations Office (IRO) & Hasselt University representatives met in Belgium in March 2011 to make a case for Collaboration between the two esteemed Universities. In continuation to those efforts Prof. Jeanne Schreurs visited Hajvery University, Pakistan.
Hasselt University is among the leading Universities in Belgium, centrally located in the capital of European Union. The University itself is situated in the city of Hasselt – at a stone’s throw from Brussels, Liege (French speaking part of Belgium), Aachen (Germany) & Maastricht (the Netherlands), whereas Paris and London are all within a couple of hundred kilometers. Hasselt University is situated on the Campus of Diepenbeek, 150 acre site in the middle of Limburg’s green belt. Hasselt is a dynamic student town where young people feel comfortable. The town organizes all kinds of theatrical performances, music and pop festivals, either in the open air or in the well-known Ethias Arena.
On her arrival here, Prof. Jeanne was given a Campus Tour of Hajvery University (HU), where she met and interacted with students & faculty members. She also visited the Research laboratories, Fashion studios and Lecture theatres etc. She was quite impressed after interacting with HU Students. To further materialize the cooperation, Director International Relations Office (IRO), Mr. Fahd Sheikh, Dean Prof. Dr. Naeem Afridi, Registrar, Prof. Usman Ghouri and Prof. Jeanne had detailed meetings.
Apart from the meetings with concerned HU Departments, various activities were planned for Prof. Jeanne to keep her busy & entertained during her trip to Hajvery University (HU). After experiencing Lahore, Pakistan first hand, meeting with students, visiting our heritage: Badshahi Mosque, Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore Fort and other historical monuments she saw Lahore from a different perspective and Prof. Jeanne admitted to be genuinely impressed by our City, and our Country.
The Co-operation between Hasselt University, Belgium & Hajvery University (HU), Pakistan is still under discussion, we look forward to a positive outcome that allows both Universities to harness its strengths and pass on the benefits of Internationalization to its students.
