Financial Assistance
HU is committed to providing generous financial aid and scholarships on Need and Merit basis to foster the culture of excellence and make quality education more accessible. Current and Prospective Students of HU are not forced to discontinue even when they cannot afford to pay the fee. HU has formed a committee and entrusted them with a fund; their core focus is to choose the right candidates and ensure fair and transparent process for grant of need and merit based Financial Aid and Scholarships. High Achievers’ Scholarships are granted to prospective students seeking admission in Undergraduate Programs. It is processed at the time of admission upon submission of proof of results obtained in the Intermediate. (A-Level and other accredited examinations scholarships listed below.)

Scholarship Programs For Prospective Bachelor's Students
Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh Hajvery Scholarship
HU as an organization derives strength from life and work of Sufi Saint Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh Hajvery; he dedicated his life to the liberation of mind and enriched the lives of millions during the 11th century. Within his aspirations lie our inspirations. It is after him that this prestigious educational institution is named. To honor him two scholarships per year are available for eligible Applicants.
Criteria:
Participants domiciled outside Punjab, obtaining at least 70% marks or equivalent in Intermediate/A-level/Graduation, get 50% tuition fee discount or free hostel for 1 year. Eligible participants may apply for this scholarship to Financial Assistance Officer/Assistant Registrar at the time of admission along with copies of academic credentials and domicile certificate.
Mushtaq Ahmed Scholarships for Minorities
In the honor of an Extraordinary Entrepreneur and Philanthropist; who during the course of his life inspired people around him and is also among founding fathers of HU, we grant three scholarships per year. It was his wish to make education accessible to all regardless of their caste, culture and creed.
Criteria:
There are three scholarships per year for minorities with 30% tuition fee concession. Participants belonging to minorities and having obtained at least 75% marks or equivalent in Intermediate/A-level/Graduation examination may apply to the Financial Assistance Officer at the time of admission.
Scholarships for Foreign Nationals
Foreign Nationals seeking admission at HU, who have obtained 70% marks in an accredited body of examinations, and fulfill the Admission criteria, are eligible up to 30% tuition fee discount. Eligible students may apply to the Financial Assistance Officer along with proof of foreign nationality at the time of admission. Decision shall be made by the Financial Aid Committee.
Outstanding Sportsmen and Debaters Scholarship
To foster Excellence in areas of Sports/Athletics and Public Speaking, High Achievers can apply for scholarships based on their past achievements. Distinguished Sportsmen/Athletes and Debaters Scholarship are awarded 50% Tuition fee concession on submission of evidence to the Office of FinanAid at the time of admission. Decision shall be made by the Financial Aid Committee.
HU Alumni Scholarship
HU Alumni seeking to further enhance their academic profile are exempt from admission fee. Furthermore they can apply for scholarship based on the following guidelines, provided that their past academic record at the university is good; no case of cheating, disciplinary actions etc.
CGPA Financial Award
3.80 and above 40% discount in tuition fee
3.26 to 3.50 25% discount in tuition fee
3.01 to 3.25 20% discount in tuition fee
2.75 to 3.00 15% discount in tuition fee
Kins of HU Alumni Scholarship
Kin of Alumni and Current Students receive tuition fee waiver as under:
First Kin: 25% tuition fee discount.
Second Kin: 30% tuition fee discount.
Third Kin: 40% tuition fee discount.
Kin includes brother, sister, husband, wife, father and mother.
Honor Roll
Honor Roll is given to current student earning SGPA of 3.40-4.00
Criteria:
- The participant is required to take full course load excluding the Pre and Non-GPA
- Courses, Internship, and Final Project courses;
- There should not be any ‘F’ grade or course repeat;
- The participant should not have been penalized as a Result of disciplinary or any other ground.
The participant qualifying for Rector's Merit award shall get tuition fee discount of 6 credit hours along with merit certificate.
Prodigies’ of HU
Current Students of HU, who excel curricular and extra circular areas within HU, and are able to gain awards outside the university in Research Papers, Debating, Athletics, Art or Dramatics are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Tuition fee waiver equivalent to 1 semester will be given along with a Prodigies’ of HU Gold Medal.
High Achievers Gold Medals
Graduating Students securing a CGPA of 3.8 and above will be awarded Gold Medals during the Convocation ceremony by the Chief Guest presiding the event.
Conditions:
Conditions for Financial Awards
The following conditions apply for all financial awards:
- Maintenance of CGPA for Bachelor program is 3.0 / 4.00 and for Masters program CGPA 3.00 / 4.00. Throughout the degree program;
- There should not be any outstanding fee;
- There should be no disciplinary action and/or unfair means action against the participant;
- Participants studying within the normal degree time frame;
- Participants shall be entitled to only one category of financial award at a time.
