A D M I S S I O N PROCEDURE
M.Phil/Ph.D. scholars will be selected on merit which will base on academic achievements (marks, divisions, GPA etc.) in the previous examinations, published work, admission test/interview and work experience if any. Work experience is preferred but not essential to be enrolled in the research degrees. Fresh Master degree holders are welcome to apply. Assessment interview will be a determining factor in the selection process.
PROGRAM STRATEGY
Initially the candidates will be enrolled for M.Phil degree if they are Master degree holders or 16 years Bachelor degree holders but if anybody is a Master degree holder from abroad or M.Phil. from Pakistan, he/she will be enrolled directly for Ph.D. degree. The degrees from all national and international institutions recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan are accepted towards admission in these programs at Hajvery University.
After completing mandatory pre-dissertation work course, the candidates will have two options:
a) Either complete M.Phil. thesis, get M.Phil. degree and then enroll for Ph.D. thesis or
B) Enroll directly for Ph.D. thesis if they can undertake research work of a Doctorate level. The suitability of the candidate whether he/she is capable to do Ph.D. level research, will be determined by the Committee for Advanced Study and Research (CASR) of the University. In the first case, the scholars will have two degrees i.e. M.Phil. and Ph.D. but in the second, the scholar will have only one degree i.e. Ph.D.
Eligibility:
Masters Degree or 16 years Bachelors degree in the relevant discipline at least in second division is eligible for entry into M.Phil/Ph.D. program. M.Phil. degree holders or Master degree. holders from a foreign university will be enrolled for Ph.D. thesis directly in the relevant discipline and need not undergo the courses required otherwise for the Master degree holders.
DURATION OF M.PHIL/PH.D. DEGREES
Normal duration for M.Phil. (which includes coursework and an M.Phil. Thesis) is two years; and that of Ph.D. (which primarily is focused on Doctoral Dissertation although it may require one or two deficiency courses) is four years i.e. two years after M.Phil.
However maximum duration for completion of M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree is four and six years respectively after which extension will be almost impossible.
CLASS SCHEDULE M.Phil/Ph.D. classes are scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. for four days in a week. Evening time has been selected so that working personnel may benefit from these programs and enroll for these degrees.
TEACHING/ LEARNING STRATEGY
Teaching/learning at this advanced level is highly interactive. It includes teacher's lectures, frequent student's presentations, critique on research articles, case studies etc. A lot of reading is assigned to the students and discussion follows. One feature of teaching/learning at M.Phil/Ph.D. level is a regular review of researches available on internet or in international journals on topics of the course being taught.
COURSE WORK
24 Credit hours coursework (usually 8 courses) is mandatory for the entrants to M.Phil degree. Those who already hold M.Phil. degree in the relevant discipline, do not need any coursework except some deficiency course necessary for the topic of their Ph.D. research. The coursework will generally be offered in three semesters. In a semester, a full time more than 9 credit hours. student may not enroll for more than 9 credit hours.

INTRODUCTION:
After getting charter of a University from Government of Punjab, Hajvery University has started strengthening its area of research with full commitment. Consequently M.Phil. and Ph.D. which are research degrees have been launched in Hajvery.
To begin with Management Sciences and Economics were chosen as the areas for Master and Doctor of Philosophy programs. Very recently Education has been added in M.Phil/Ph.D. list. As the educational facilities at Hajvery University are expanding, more disciplines will be included in research degrees.
OBJECTIVE:
The main objective of any M.Phil/Ph.D program is to produce competent personnel for leadership positions in the relevant field. For example, in Economics, the objective is to provide high level Economists who can be involved in framing the economic policies of the country. Similarly in Management Sciences the objective is to prepare top level managers to steer the organizations and to bring them to a market leader positions. In Education, the objective is to prepare educationists for leading slots in teaching, assessment and educational administration. Another very important objective of all M.Phil/Ph.D.
programs is to promote Research in the respective fields. M.Phil/Ph.D. scholars will produce original researches on the completion of their degrees. As such new knowledge will be generated bringing new theories and applications in those fields. It will promote research culture in Pakistan, which in its turn; will provide a solid foundation for the country's development.
