Course description

The five years Pharmacy program would equip the students with all the basic elements of pharmacy education. Students will be well equipped with the skills required in pharmaceutical industry and they will also be prepared to adapt changes that may take place during their careers. By the end of their degree the students are well versed with all the basic aspect of Pharmacy, they are groomed and are able to communicate effectively and they are also able to appreciate the professional and social role of a pharmacist.    

What is pharmacy?
Pharmacy profession is not at all as dull and boring as people mostly think, in fact it is a very dynamic and a rewarding career with ample of opportunities. The pharmacists are involved in all aspect of the preparation and use of medicines, from the discovery of their active ingredients to their use by patients. Pharmacists also monitor the effects of medicines, both for patient care and for research purposes.

Why Pharmacy?

Pharmacy is a rewarding career in health care that involves working closely with doctors and patients. No matter what, there will always be need of qualified pharmacist in the health care system. Since pharmacists are the experts in medicine therefore they also give their expertise on the composition, use, and manufacturing of a drug, as well as its physiological and chemical interactions. A degree is Pharmacy offers high salaries and perks, flexible working hours, never ending opportunities and a job right after university.     
 

Role of a Pharmacist is to educate consumers on the usage of medication and monitor patient’s health to ensure that they are getting the full benefits of the drug.  Pharmacists also advise doctors and other health care professionals on making careful medication decisions and that is the reason why they are ranked as one of the top and most trusted professionals.

Internships

Internships are considered as very important part of the program, therefore 10 weeks internship has been made mandatory of every student enrolled in BBA (Hons). HU students have the chance to do internships in leading national and international companies, providing them with a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge of their field’s professional world and thus increasing their appeal from a recruitment perspective. Most of the HU students are also able to secure a job in the company during their internships.

Due to the rapid growth of the health care system and increasing population there is unprecedented demand for pharmacists today around the world. Not only that but there are many exciting career opportunities in pharmacy field such as:

Average Starting Salary:

In today’s era the pharmacists are in high demand and for those of you who are concerned about raising a family and earning a respectable living than pharmacy is the profession that you should go for. Most pharmacy professions allow the pharmacist to set their own schedules and vacation dates, giving them time to spend with their family and friends. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average annual salary for pharmacists is $98,960, based on 2007 data. Additionally, a signing bonus of $5,000-$15,000 may be offered upon accepting and starting a position. Pharmacy is also ranked as A Top-Paying Profession For Women according to Forbes Magazine.
