Seminar on Major Accidents in Industrial Setup
First session of the seminar was chaired by Prof. Dr. Brig. (R) Naeem Akhtar Khan Afridi. First presentation was made by Mr. Adnan Ashraf on the Disaster of Space Shuttle Challenger. Other speakers were Assistant Professor Subhani, Ms. Aqsa Shafqat, Mr. Hamza Waqar and Mr. Waqar Ellahi. It was a brain storming session. This was concluded by a demonstration given by the Chairman as to how a speech for debate seminar be presented.
The seminar was held on 4th & 11th January 2010 in Seminar Room, Engineering Campus, Hajvery University Lahore.
The second session of the seminar was held on January 11, 2011 in Seminar Room. Seminar held in Engineering Campus of Hajvery University and chaired by Prof. Dr. Brig. (R) Engr. Naeem Akhtar Khan Afridi.
Topic of the presentation was:
“CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR INCIDENT”
Participants:
a) Mr. Maruf Ahmad Khan (Final Year)
b) Mr. Kamran Mushtaq (Final Year)
c) Mr. Abid Iqbal (Final Year)
It based on the research of nuclear disaster occurred in Chernobyl nuclear plant on April 20, 1986. Brief introduction on cause, lack o planning of test, human errors, miscalculated the period of nuclear reactor, violation of SOP’s and corruption. Finally to conclude the whole seminar Prof. Dr. Brig. (R) Naeem Akhtar Khan Afridi presented the pros & cons of such types of disasters and after effects of radioactivity through contamination. He also explained about the safety in real life and in engineering profession as well.
Recognition: It is a fine time very good step by Dean of Engineering HU to help us to enhance our communication, presentation skills and to boost confidence to face the crowds.
