January 15, 2011 – Engineering Students of Hajvery University (HU) organised a Welcome and Farewell Celebration at HU Main Campus. The chilly evening soon transformed into an energized atmosphere by the melodic musical performance of Zaheer Abbas. Interestingly, Zaheer is an Alumni of HU, now a professional singer having won several accolades including the very popular Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Contest in India.
Next on stage was Mustafa, a singer from FM103 Radio followed by Irfan Abbas(Student) known to his friends as Janu. Students Tanveer Ahmad and Abdul Wahab were on the flute & guitar respectively, whereas Drums, Tabla and Dhol were played by professionals. Ms. Aqsa Shafqat and Ms. Iram Zaheer compared the program. Their confidence and coordination were remarkable and pleased the audience.
Engineering Students welcomed the idea floated by their Dean, Dr. Naeem to welcome the new students and bid farewell to the graduating ones in a ceremony. The lead organisers of the event Ali Raza, Abid Rehman and Ali Akbar coordinated with the students, staff, faculty, HU management and guests, and put in a lot of effort to make this event memorable for everyone.
Dean, HU School of Engg. & CS Dr. Naeem Afridi congratulated the organizers, performers and participants for the graceful evening. He added that this batch of students have created a new tradition at HU by Welcoming the new batch of students to Hajvery University (HU) and bidding farewell to their seniors. He wished best of luck to our engineers and concluded his speech with three cheers to the Chairman & HU Management for their support to make this event possible.
The musical evening filled with awe-inspiring poetry and rhythm concluded with a delicious Dinner.
