30 June, 2011. Syeda Wajiha Hassan is currently pursuing BBA (Hons) at Hajvery University (HU). She was awarded a scholarship to Study Abroad for 1 semester at Sabanci University, Istanbul, Turkey. The scholarship included Return AirTicket, Comprehensive Insurance, and 5000 Euros Stipend Money for daily expenses among other things. The following essay is written by her, which presents a glimpse of her Experience of Studying and Living Abroad in Europe.
HU Office of Foreign Affairs arranged a pre-departure seminar to prepare the students selected under the Comprehensive scholarship to study abroad free of cost, in partner universities of HU in Germany, Netherlands, Turkey, Lichtenstein and others. International travel and being an exchange student can be a daunting experience, especially for the first time.
Themes of joint activities under the MoU include Exchange programs for Undergrad and Grad students, Exchange of Faculty and Research Scholars, Joint Conferences and Research activities, and several other areas to broaden the capacity of Co-operation between the two esteemed Institutions.
HU organized Debating Competition 2010 in two languages, English and Urdu, on October 21, 2010. After much anticipation, excitement and preparation Thirty students from all 6 Faculties, brought their scripts to life
International school of Choueifat, Lahore organized a Career Fair on Nov 13, 2010. The Fair brought together several reputable, local and international universities, and thus allowed the students of various schools to interact with University Representatives from Pakistan, UK, USA & Australia.
A workshop on Intelligent Utilization of Digital Library Resources was conducted by Ms. Syeda Tamkanat, DLO Officer, HEC on Nov 4, 2010. The one day workshop aimed at educating Students and Faculty members about the wealth of resources available in Digital Library, and how to filter through to find the appropriate research papers, journals ect to suit their research needs.
Copying everything off the board, or power point slides laboriously in your register/notebook isn’t the smartest way to study, and learn new things. What is required is a smarter way of making notes and going over them. The below technique of note-taking capitalizes on the proven methods of memory retention.
Engineering Ethics is an important subject included in the curriculum of Electrical Engineering (Final Semester). A Seminar on the same was organized at HU Main Campus, in Room No. 17 at 1100 on 1 December 2010.
I was selected by Hajvery University (HU) for a fully funded, 1 month Academic Staff Exchange opportunity at University of Flensburg, Germany (Partner University of HU) in the summer of 2010. Teaching and interacting with the Students, PhD Scholars and Professors from Germany was a great experience.
Hajvery University (HU), Lahore, Pakistan inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Özyeğin University, Istanbul, Turkey . OzU is among the best universities of Turkey, and it’s centrally located in Istanbul, Turkey. This MoU further expands the International Relations of HU with reputable universities in the world. Students and Faculty members of HU can greatly benefit from the opportunities available under this MoU.
HU Business School (HUBS) arranged an Educational Tour for its MBA students to Lahore Stock Exchange, so students can learn about the Activities of Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE), and the role of stock exchanges in businesses and economies.
On December 10, 2010, HU BBA(Hons) students had an Educational Tour at Shezan International Ltd. Purpose of the visit was to provide students with an opportunity to have firsthand experience of Pakistan’s Largest Food Processing Unit; meet its management, and develop a know-how of the production line up, and business operations of Shezan International.
In the cold winter and the breezy nights of January 7th, 2011 the students of business and commerce department organized a welcome and a bonfire party. It was a joyful day, started off with loads of burden of décor, music, lights, and food, which then leaded it into a charismatic night.
First session of the seminar was chaired by Prof. Dr. Brig. (R) Naeem Akhtar Khan Afridi. First presentation was made by Mr. Adnan Ashraf on the Disaster of Space Shuttle Challenger. Other speakers were Assistant Professor Subhani, Ms. Aqsa Shafqat, Mr. Hamza Waqar and Mr. Waqar Ellahi.
14 January, 2011 – HU School of Commerce & Banking Students went on a Educational Visit to TCL Nobel Ltd accompanied by Mr. Tahir Mehmood. The purpose of the tour was to provide students an opportunity to experience how a leading TV manufacturer conducts its operations, research & development, production and others areas of the business.
January 15, 2011 – Engineering Students of Hajvery University (HU) organised a Welcome and Farewell Celebration at HU Main Campus. The chilly evening soon transformed into an energized atmosphere by the melodic musical performance of Zaheer Abbas. Interestingly, Zaheer is an Alumni of HU, now a professional singer having won several accolades including the very popular Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Contest in India.
January 17, 2011- Hajvery University (HU) Students of Fashion Design showcased their Dress Designs in an elegant Exhibition held at HU Euro Campus on Monday 17 January, 2011. The event attracted a large number of people, including Fashion Designers, Boutiques, Press & Media; the audience was overwhelmed by the work of the young fashion designers; each display portrayed a different theme: Victorian, Mughal, Balochi, Ghotic, Valentines, Wedding, Fantasy, Egyptian, Nature and several others.
20 January, 2011 – Hajvery University (HU) arranged an Educational Visit for Students of Engineering to Descon Engineering Ltd. Descon requires no introduction, it has established itself as a market leader and its multinational approach towards engineering projects has given this Pakistan firm credibility is several countries.
24 January, 2011 – HUES, HU Entrepreneurs Society organized a Seminar on Entrepreneurship as a Career Option in collaboration with SMEDA, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority. The Purpose of the Seminar was to foster the spirit of Entrepreneurship in the future business leaders of Pakistan by counseling them on areas such as, Business Match Making, Access to Finance and Marketing, Business Counseling etc.
January 22, 2011 – Over some time these words have been echoing in the premises of HU Euro Campus. Finally the long awaited Saturday came, on which the Students Celebrated Farewell Party for the Pioneer batch of Hajvery University (HU) Pharmacy Students. The Event featured skits, title dedications, singing, speeches, decor and a long list of other things.
Hajvery University (HU) faculty member Ms. Rozy Rizvi gave her students a project on Wikileaks; the purpose of Project was to sensitize the students on the Global issues shaping the present and future of our country, and our world. Through analysis of the publications of wikileaks the students were expected to be more aware of the important issues..
1st February, 2011. Students of Hajvery University (HU) from both Campuses gathered for a rocking event at HU Euro Campus which included a concert by Falak followed by Call the band ( Junaid, Xulfi, Waqar and Sultan.), which are immensely popular among the students. The event featured a host of other activities to engage students such as rock climbing, wii contests, caricatures, races and other competitions.
9 February, 2011 – HUES, HU Entrepreneurs Society organized a Seminar on Women Entrepreneurship in collaboration with Generation Ltd, a successful clothing brand. The Purpose of the Seminar was To meet the long felt need to empower women by bringing them into the mainstream of development by improving their economic status and providing them new employment opportunities by way of income generation and self-employment.
Feb 12, 2011. Imran Khan, while addressing students at Hajvery University (HU) said the most important characteristics of a good Leader are: Being Fearless, especially in difficult times, and having the strength and perseverance to steer his people out of difficulties, Having a Vision that resonates the voice of the people, rather than one which is based on his own personal gains. He further went on to say that anyone of you (students) can be a good leader, if they have faith in themselves and take the right steps.
February 24, 2011. Hajvery University (HU) celebrated Eid Milad-un-Nabi with great zeal and fervour by arranging a Milad for students and guests at HU Euro Campus. Begum Governor, Mrs. Mussarrat Latif Khosa kindly consented to be the Chief Guest on this auspicious occasion; the Milad was also graced by eminent personalities from all walks of life from the society.
February 9, 2011 – Hajvery University (HU) arranged an Educational Visit for Students of Engineering to PEL – Pak Elecktron Ltd. PEL (est in 1956) is the pioneer manufacturer of electrical goods in Pakistan .It is a technology forerunner and market leader in providing new products to meet ever changing, technology intensive needs of customers.
The Deans of different Faculties at HU gave a short presentation to the Board Members on the progress of their respective Faculties and Research output. The Board Members presented new recommendations for improvements. The meeting concluded with a Lunch reception on Campus.
March 10-11, 2011. A Youth awareness workshop on First Aid/ Emergency Treatment was held at Hajvery University(HU) Euro Campus. The event was organized by Concise and Conceptual Series in Collaboration with PRCS (Pakistan Red Crescent Society) under the supervision of Mr. Nadeem Alvi-Pharmacy Program Coordinator and Mr. Irfan Bashir- Pharmacy Lecturer.
March 11, 2011. Hajvery University (HU) students of Textile Design showcased their dress designs in an elegant Exhibition held at HU Main Campus on Friday March 11, 2011. The event attracted a large number of people. The audience was overwhelmed by the work of the young textile designers. Each displayed portrayed a different theme causal and party wear.
It is a matter of pride for HU to win an award that acknowledges our determination to bring innovation in Higher Education through Informational Technology. The existing website features a host of online facilities to current and prospective students for HU, which have been meticulously integrated in a inspiring User Interface. In the near future we are integrating several new features including Learning Management Systems, Virtual Learning Environment ect.
Hajvery University (HU) organized spring festival 2011 aka Jashn-e-Baharan 2011 for the students, staff & faculty members of both campuses. HU students arranged stalls of delicious food items, face painting, textile design projects, pharmacy books, jewellery & accessories and several others.
March 10, 2010. HU Business School (HUBS) arranged an Educational Trip to Geo Studios for 60 Students of Marketing and Advertising on Thursday March 10, 2011.
The purpose of the Visit was to allow the Students to appreciate and learn the process carried out by Studios to produce media, including TVC TV Commercial Drama Serial.

9 May, 2011. Hajvery University (HU) arranged a visit to Honda Atlas for its students, on April 12th, 2011 the students of HU Business School (HUBS) had an opportunity to visit this esteemed organization, 43-km-Multan Road Manga Mandi Lahore. Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan Limited is a joint venture between Honda Motor Company Limited Japan, and the Atlas Group of Companies, Pakistan. The aim was to allow Business students to appreciate the how a leading company such as Honda Atlas functions.
Hu Sports society organized a sports gala from 11 April 2011 to 16th April 2011 at Euro Campus. The Competitions were held in the following games.
6 May, 2011. Mobilink’s youth platform Jazz Jazba launched a 2-day Talent Program at Hajvery University (HU) on 13-15 April, 2011 to harness the potential talent in a variety of categories by giving students a platform to showcase their talents on stage. The event was hosted by the popular host/actor Mani. The activity received an overwhelming response from students, as they participated in various competitions that included singing, acting and body building performances.

Hajvery University (HU) Students of Pharmacy batch IX were contemplating just that; the entire class along with HU Recreational Society (HURS) unanimously decided to plan a visit to Changa Manga & Head Balloki to create some amazing memories.

22 June, 2011. A three day workshop on “Emergency Response Team Training” was held at Hajvery University (HU) for students of Pharmacy from 13-15 June 2011. The Two-day Education Expo ’11 organized by the Jang Group on the 27-28 June, 2011 featured stalls from universities, colleges, education organizations and higher education institutes of the Pakistan. The Exhibition allowed Prospective Students and their families to gather information regarding programs, scholarships, opportunities, and about different Universities.
Construction is underway for the New State-of-the-Art Auditorium at Hajvery University (HU), Students from all HU campuses will be able to enjoy this facility. The new auditorium will seat 450+ people and will play host to a series of Events such as: Seminars, Conferences, Concerts, Debates, Plays, Corporate Interactions, Guest Speaker Lectures, Movie nights and much more.
12 July, 2011. Humza Butt is pursuing BBA (Hons) at Hajvery University (HU). He was awarded a scholarship to Study Abroad for 1 semester at University of Flensburg, Germany. 2 July, 2011. HU hosted a Guest Speak Talk on Thursday, 21 July, 2011 by Mr. Tristram Perry & Ms. Andrea DeArment Information Officers of the US Consulate General of Lahore & Karachi. The purpose was to allow students to ask questions concerning the PAK-US relations to get a better understanding of the current issues.
30 July 2011. The month of Ramadan is upon us once again. For Hajvery University (HU) management Ramadan is perhaps even more special, as they prepare to serve Iftari to 1000+ people every day during Ramadan. For the past 6 years HU has made an open invitation to the less privileged people of this area to come and have Iftari with us.
6 Aug, 2011. Hajvery University (HU) aired its very first TV/Media Advertisement, and we’d love to hear what you guys think about it. The Ad was shot on HU Campuses, and entirely consists of our own Students & Faculty members. The Ad focuses on different aspects of the University: ‘Meet the Art, Meet the Science, Meet the Best Facilities, Meet the Friendliest Faculty, Meet new Friends, and concludes with Meet Yourself.’
9 August, 2011. Hajvery University (HU) participated in the Two-day Education Expo 2011. It was organized by the Gujranwala Business Centre on the 29-30 July, 2011 featuring stalls from universities, colleges, educational organizations and higher education institutes from this region. 6 Sept, 2011. A TV Talk-Show under the auspices of HU Faculty of Engineering was organized in the Auditorium of HU Euro Campus on August 16, 2011. More than a 100 students along with Teaching Faculty of Department of Electrical Engineering attended the seminar.
12 Sept, 2011. Adnan Abdul Khaliq is pursuing Telecom Engineering at Hajvery University. HU awarded scholarship to Adnan for a Study Abroad Semester at Fontys University, Netherlands. 22 Nov, 2011. Mr. Mario Vottero visited Hajvery University (HU) from Brussels, Belgium on 14 October, 2011 with the aim of conducting ROM (Results Oriented Monitoring) on behalf of European Commission – EACEA, for the project involving those students who were sent aboard to Study Abroad Scholarships to partner Universities of HU.The purpose of his visit was to assess the impact of such projects, and to better understand the internal procedures adopted by HU in execution of EM-ECW.
The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Islamabad Chapter , in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) and MIT Enterprise Forum of Pakistan, is pleased to launch local leg of All-Asia Business Plan Competition (AABPC), an international program designed in conjunction with the Rice University Business Plan Competition to give local entrepreneurs and graduate-level university students in Asia a real-world experience to fine tune their business plans and elevator pitches to be able to generate funding to successfully commercialize their product and launch their StartUps. Hajvery University’s Convocation 2011 was held at the HU Euro campus on Saturday, 24 December, 2011. A total of 472 graduates received their degrees. Convocation is the formal ceremony for the conferral of degrees. It is our time honored way to celebrate Our Students Academic accomplishments, and an opportunity for the Graduates to share this important milestone with family and friends.
The annual HU Fashion Display 2012 was held HU Euro Campus on Thursday, 12 January 2012 from 12 p.m. till 4 p.m. It is indeed a proud moment for Hajvery University, to see its Young Fashion Designers launch themselves in the Fashion Industry. We are certain they will make a positive impact on the industry in Pakistan and World over.

Laghari Sb, Senior Journalists: Oriya Maqbool Jan Sb, Javed Chaudhry sb, and the remarkable Mohammad Malick Sb, Senior Foreign Diplomat, US Consul General: Ms. Nina Maria Fite, Google, Country Consultant, Badar Khushnood Sb, CEO Depilex, Ms. Massarat Misbah, Media & Cultural Icons: Mian Yousuf Salahuddin Sb, Adeel Hashmi Sb, Ms. Huma Amir Shah who delivered their talks, and shared their Dreams for our beloved country, Pakistan. 29 Feb,2012. HU School of Pharmacy held a meeting of Board of Studies on Saturday, 25 February, 2012. The meeting started with the recitation of Holy Quran. Hajvery University (HU) extended their felicitation to all participants. Dr. Nasira Saif-ur-Rehman presented the progress of HU Pharm-D programme. She told that 70 Pharm-D students have passed out this year. She also shared with the participants that HU has 4 PhD Scholars, 31 Faculty Members. A new auditorium and new offices for the faculty members were added in the existing infrastructure
3 march,2012. Hajvery University students and management organized spring festival 2012 to celebrate the onset spring in style. The students were dressed in tasteful traditional dresses of Pakistan, reflecting the fashion of different provinces: Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, KPK. It was a delight for the eyes to see all these young people promoting the culture of Pakistan. The best dressed male and female students were declared spring king and spring queen.
My name is Charles Haroon Gill and I am currently doing MBA (E-7) at Hajvery University and I was provided a platform in form of AIESEC by Hajvery University (HU) to do internship at, Denizli, Turkey for 8 weeks. AIESEC is an international student-based organization that provides students with an opportunity to do internships all over the world. I got opportunity to do my internship at Denizli, which is situated in the south-western part of Turkey .It is a growing industrial city. Majority of the population in Turkey is Muslim, so there are some similarities between our culture and the Turkish culture, but there are significant differences in terms of food, dress, language and general socialization activities.
March 14, 2012. Bachelors & Masters students of Textile Design showcased their final thesis projects in an exhibition held at HU Main Campus. The exhibition featured a catwalk by models wearing designs made by final year HU Students of Textile Design. The exhibition attracted a lot of fashion conscious people and students from across faculties, who really admired the awe-inspiring work on display.
15 March, 2012. Mr. Muhammad Asif, Director American Information Resource Center (AIRC), US Consulate General Lahore, delivered a workshop on harnessing the potential of e-Library USA at Hajvery University (HU). Students from across all faculties; Pharmacy, Business, Fashion, Media Studies, Engineering, Humanities, and others including researchers and teaching faculty attended the workshop. The objective of this workshop was to introduce e-library USA which gives access to 20 authoritative databases, which include several thousand books, magazines, journals, research papers, citations, documentaries, and a lot more.
On April 02, 2012, A Jam session/Live concert of US musical rock band “Blood Moon Therapy” was held at Hajvery University in collaboration with US Consulate. The band consisted on Michael Lombardi, who is a musical/actor and has worked in a lot of TV serials, Nick who is a guitarist from New York, Shawn Dailey from California who plays the base guitar, Neil Parekh from Los Angles, who is guitarist/Keyboardist and Chris Vargas, who plays drum and is also from California.
24 April, 2012 – HU organized an Educational Tour of Tripple Em for students of Commerce to enhance their exposure and understanding of the organization, its production mechanisms, human resource management, marketing, and strategy of one of the oldest companies of Pakistan. HU Students were given the opportunity to gain practical knowledge of how Tripple-Em operates in fierce competition and do professional networking with the Management and HR department at the same time.
About my experience, the thing that I miss the most is independence, the country, all the places I visited and planned to visit but couldn’t. This experience has made me Confident, improved my Communication skills and changed my view about life and many other things. The impact of this experience on my life is that now I deal things maturely, and I always have confidence in me while deciding important things. And towards my goals, this lifetime opportunity has made my vision more clear and I am more motivated.”
Current students of Hajvery University (HU) volunteered for the organising committee of TEDxHUP and played their parts very effectively in making this event a mega success. In appreciation for their efforts, Certificates of Recognition were distributed amongst them. Curator of TEDxHUP wished the students best of luck, in his concluding remarks, and encouraged the students to engage more in such healthy activities.
HU organized an Educational Tour of Bunny’s Ltd for students of Business Administration. 30 students of Hajvery University (HU) along with a faculty member, Prof. Gauhar Siddique, visited Bunny’s Ltd at Kot lakhpat, Lahore. Bunny’s Ltd, est in 1984, is a market leader in packaged snacks and baked breads.
