About the Course
The programme is designed, emphasizing highly creative design allied to the use of both traditional & sophisticated new technology. It enables you to develop the Textile Design skills and understanding required to work creatively & successfully within a varied and rapidly changing industry.Initially you will be given a broad introduction to different aspects of Textile Design, followed by opportunities to develop a range of increasingly sophisticated skills and understanding throughout the programme. This includes: visual research, technical skills, creative textile design and development, communication & study skills, theoretical concepts, historical and cultural framework, professional practice, career development, and a broad awareness of the international textile industry.
The focus is towards individual development of practical skills combined with a contextual awareness of cultural and practical skills.
Course is designed as a contemporary specialization for students with a love of Textile Designing traditional skills alongside new technologies in design and manufacture. The course encourages students to develop a creative and innovative approach to Textile Designing.
You will develop and realize your potential through a varied programme of studio-based projects, lectures, debates, competitions, live project work, group critiques, field visits, tutorials, technical demonstrations, written assignments, seminars and practical workshops.
Teaching & Assessment
Teaching Methods include studio-based design projects, workshop demonstrations, workshop practical and lectures. We adopt a range of assessment methods to test the learning outcomes within each module. Design projects are assessed in the studios and supporting studies evaluated by group assignments, essays, oral presentations or examinations.

This well-established degree has an excellent record of employment within Textiles - Usually about 90% within six months of graduation.
